As all aspect of cycling require a specific bicycle for a specific job, of course touring does as well. Many cyclists have big goals of riding across the United States or similar ventures. As you can imagine a journey of that intensity requires some serious equipment. Touring Bikes usually include things such as a steel frame made to be smooth and comfortable as well as be able to carry a large load of gear. Also touring bikes tend to have a relaxed road geometry to achieve maximum efficiency as well as comfort. Touring Bikes are usually stocked with as large of a gear range as possible to handle all types of terrain and elevation. Many Touring Bikes come stocked with Racks or at least front and rear rack mounts for installation of racks. Also touring bikes often have fenders to keep the rider dry and comfortable, and many higher end touring bikes come with disc brakes in order to handle ruff terrain and wet conditions better. After all touring bike needs to be dependable in all situations.
