Mud, lightning, mud, rain, mud, tornado, mud… – Carpentersville 2012

What a day of Chicago Cross Cup racing!!  Today we experienced everything a good Chicago fall has to offer and 12 of us from Bicycle Heaven rolled with it.

For those of you who were warm and dry today you missed some amazingly technical racing.  Even more so than normal, the races were won and lost in the turns.  You missed the “rollers” section that turned into a 200 foot mud pond.  You also missed a rare event where the Cat 4’s raced the same number of laps as the Cat 1/2/3 because a tornado warning was issued and the course was cleared soon after the 1/2/3 start.  You know your cross course is muddy when a “mudder” truck is getting stuck in it after the race.

We can’t forget about Psycho Cross.  Shon Zeller started at 69 and moved up to 13th in the 4a race which is next to impossible.  Thanks for the update Shon!

We’ll see you at Sunrise Park – Bartlett next weekend.  Don’t forget we need some help breaking down the course next Sunday so we can put on the best race of the year at Campton Cross.

Here are a lot of pictures of mostly the 4s races.  If you have more send them over and I’ll add them to the gallery.
