If you’re not sure of how to sort out the upcoming road racing season, put March 6th at 6:30 on your calendar. Reigning Illinois Cup Masters 4/5 Champion, Bryan Fuller, is going to run you through the nuts-and-bolts of a road race. The focus will be primarily on organizational stuff (what paperwork you will need to fill out, what to take to a race, how/where to pin a number, etc.) Coming will dull the nerves you are sure to feel if you’re not an old pro at this. If you’ve ever even thought of racing a bike, you will pick up some useful info here. Both teammates and non-teammates are encouraged to come. Shoot us an email if you think you can make it, so we have some idea how many will be in attendance.
To get it started, here’s a great tip: Always look through corners (rather than looking straight ahead) when you are turning at speed. See that picture above? That’s the race where Fuller clinched the Illinois Cup. Where’s he looking? Where are the guys who didn’t win the cup looking? The little things matter…
