It’s finally March.

It’s March. Regular weekend group rides should start. The time change should bring the start of the Tuesday night ride. We even get to race. It’s March again. Finally.

If you can stick your tongue out, is it racing? Picture courtesy of Peloton-Pix.

Notable upcoming events for your calendar:

Sunday March 4 – Group Ride. If the weather cooperates, it should be massive. All levels of riding attending, but bring a map if you’re not on good form. It will be a “drop” ride, and the majority of riders will probably struggle to make the entire route.

Tuesday March 6 – Bike racing nuts and bolts for new racers. Reigning Illinois Cup Masters 4/5 Champion Bryan Fuller will be gathering the eager learners around the camp fire at 6:30 p.m.  There, he will explain all the little things about race day.  Anticipated topics include what you should not forget to pack in your raceday bag, rider habits that annoy the race officials, and other useful information that you’d never think of. There may even be a guest speaker.  All invited.

Sunday March 11 – Kenosha Training Crit. If the Tour of Qatar is a “pre-season” race (because the “real” season opens with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad) and our Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is the Burnham Racing Spring Super Crit, then the Kenosha Training Crits are our Tour of Qatar.  Make sense?  Maybe not, but these ABR sanctioned races are laid-back and fun.  If it’s not snowing.
