Matt Flaherty tackles round one of the Chi Cross Cup

Flaherty racing with Style

Jackson Park kicked off the official Chicago Cyclocross season and, like any bike race in the area, we were there.  John Craychee managed to pick up where he left off… on the top step of the podium in 60+.  Congrats to him for taking an early lead in the series points championship.  On the other end of the spectrum, our top male junior racer, Andy Heuser rode his way to an impressive 4th place in a fast junior’s field.  Great job, Andy!

Other top tens include Ara spinning his way to 7th in the singlespeed race, and Eric Christ finishing 10th in a Cat 3 race that saw nearly 90 starters, including Matt “My future is so bright I have to wear socks” Flaherty (pictured above).  Great job by everybody on the team who spent Sunday getting dusty and having fun!

Next week, those of us unable to pass on great road racing will be hitting the Fall Fling crit and time trial.  The cyclocross fanatics will be traveling north for one of the biggest cyclocross weekends of the year at the Planet Bike Cup.  There should be plenty of road and cross riding during the week, and details will be posted here if they become available.
