Fall is here. The White Sox are in the heat of a pennant race, the NHL is about to start another lockout, and the Bears are still undefeated. Nothing screams “early fall” like an undefeated Bears team.
To us, fall is more than just irrelevant Cubs games (weren’t they mathematically eliminated in June, again?) and Pumpkin Pie Blizzards. Fall means knee warmers, long fingered gloves, and toe covers. Fall means cyclocross!
This weekend a large contingent of cross-crazed BH riders will pull out the thermal skin suits and head to the city to tackle the first CCC race of the series. The races at Jackson Park are always filled and always well organized by our friends over at xXx. It should be fun.
Those of us who are less cross-crazed and not yet ready to believe road season has passed will be doing a 3 hour group ride on Saturday morning. The ride will leave from the Geneva Caribou at 8:00 a.m. and should be “medium” paced (quick enough for Cat 3′s to get a decent workout, but not fast enough to spit people off the back). This week the ride is intended to be “no-drop.” If you’re not headed to the cross race, come on out!
