Bring back Vernon Hills

There’s been a rumor floating around for a couple of months that the Vernon Hills crit may be coming back.  This early-season race was a favorite for many, and the team has had a fair degree of success there (except the year that Bryan Fuller ended his race on the grass, in the fetal position, [...]

Holy pain.

You know what’s a bad sign?  When somebody shows up to the group ride in a State Championship jersey.  See that dude in the blue?  That’s an Illinois State Championship jersey.  Not his only one, either. Mix in another state champion., a former national champion, one of the top ranked triathletes in the world, a [...]

This weekend in group rides.

And you thought that Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was the big even this weekend.  Wrong!  Despite the snow covering the area last night, we’re still geared up to ride.  On Saturday, it’s the Ride in Honor of Justin.  We will be leaving from the Geneva Caribou at 1:30pm sharp. On Sunday we depart from the same Caribou at [...]

Computrainers… the bad news

It’s not really bad news.  More like plain, old “news”. Word from the guys running this show is that the computrainer classes will run though the time change, and then be on an “as needed” basis.  That puts us through the first week of March.  The sign-up sheet has been updated, with the old weeks deleted [...]

Fast… at everything

It’s only February and we’re already flying.  Not only on the bikes, but at registering.  Both Leland and the Burnham Racing Spring Super crit are getting filled up by the men in blue.  The weather at both of these races can be dicey, so it’s great to see guys committing early and not caring about [...]

Learn to race bikes… from a Champion.

If you’re not sure of how to sort out the upcoming road racing season, put March 6th at 6:30 on your calendar.  Reigning Illinois Cup Masters 4/5 Champion, Bryan Fuller, is going to run you through the nuts-and-bolts of a road race.  The focus will be primarily on organizational stuff (what paperwork you will need [...]

The Rolling Stones of bike racing.

What do the Rolling Stones and the Bicycle Heaven Racing crew have in common? Sold out shows! Computrainer class was booked yesterday. Computrainer class on Saturday is sold out as well. Not bad for a computrainer studio that’s only been around since December. Can’t wait to finish off the rehearsals and start touring.

Leland Kermess Pre-ride

Looks like half of the team is already signed up.  Are we ready to get at it? I think so. Here’s some video of one of the gravel sections for the Leland Kermesse.  Listen for the howling wind.  This was as good as the weather got that week. “400 watts… 15 miles an hour”
